Agricola man held with stolen gun from Bartica massacre

An Agricola, East Bank Demerara man, who was found in possession of a weapon stolen during the Bartica massacre, was last week remanded to prison when he appeared before a Georgetown Magistrate.
Sheldon Gorrick, 27, of Third Street, Agricola, was found in possession of a .32 magnum revolver and seven rounds of ammunition on July 28 at College Road, Brickdam, by ranks of a mobile police patrol. He was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without licence.
According to the police, the firearm has been traced to miner Chunilall Babulall of Bartica, Essequibo, whose home was attacked and robbed by gunmen who attacked the community during the Bartica killings on February 17, 2008.
However, the police did not say if the man will be charged for the massacre, which left 12 persons dead.
