Senior police officer attempts to rape 12-year-old step-daughter

Investigators are looking for a senior police officer who disappeared shortly after he was almost caught red-handed attempting to rape his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

The police officer, a Deputy Superintendent attached to Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, went into hiding after his wife threatened to report the attempted rape.

The incident occurred around 08:00hrs yesterday at the home of the police officer and his family in South Georgetown.

According to reports, the police officer's wife was in the bottom flat of their apartment preparing breakfast when she heard her daughter screaming.

“My daughter was preparing for school when I heard her shouting, ‘Ah gon tell mommy'. I look upstairs and saw my daughter with her torn panties down to her ankles,” the woman told this newspaper.

When she enquired what the matter was, her daughter told her that the police officer had tried to rape her.

“She said that he fondled her while his penis was out of his pants,” the woman related.

She said she rebuked her husband by telling him that this is not the first time that he tried to rape her daughter.

According to the woman, she told her husband that she cannot live with him if he wants to have sex with her daughter.

With that the senior cop ran downstairs and inflicted a severe beating on his wife, causing her to sustain injuries for which she obtained a medical.

When the woman threatened to report the matter to the police, the officer reportedly locked the woman and her child in their home and continued to threaten them.

But when the woman insisted that she wanted police action, the officer reportedly begged her not to.

Neighbours heard the woman's screams and called the police at the East La Penitence police station.

But by then the police officer had gone into hiding.

Up to late last night the officer had not been arrested.

Statements were taken from the officer's wife and her daughter, and investigations are continuing.
